  • Competitive admission allows only a limited number of students to be accepted for each department and program.
  • Eligibility
  • Applicants with sufficient Korean proficiency meeting one of the following conditions:

    A. An applicant holding foreign citizenship whose parents are foreign (not Korean citizens) citizens
    B. An applicant who completed the entire 16-year education from elementary school to university in a foreign country (not Korea)

    - Entrance requirements and admission procedures for Korean citizens to the Graduate School differ from the ones applicable to non-Korean citizens. Information for Korean citizen applicants, who do not meet the requirements above, is not included in this section. And applicants who are not eligible for foreign application should check the Korean Citizen Application process.

  • Screening

    A. Foreign applicants will be selected only through document screening. Please keep in mind that all submitted documents will be scrutinized by members of the screening committee.
    B. Some departments may conduct an interview.

    - In cases where no total average GPA of the applicant and the maximum score or grading system is listed on the transcript, please submit proof about these factors from the College where you graduated.

    ** TOEFL or IELTS or TEPS score (applicants for the Department of Business Administration and the Department of International Business must submit score. Applicants who received a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a country whose native language is English, who are from NIIED, or who is able to take face to face admission interview do not need to submit a TOEFL, IELTS or TEPS score. The submission of TOPIK score is not mandatory but recommended.) and contact number for the consultation with the head professor is required.     ** Applicants for the Department of Law must submit S-TOPIK level 4(or above) or Certificate of completion of level 4(or above) from KLCC(Korean Language & Culture Center) in Korea University as of the fall semester. 2011.

    Financial resources statement
  • 1) Bank statement (a minimum of USD 10,000 or equivalent in currency of applicants' country) issued within 3 months. We recommend you to freeze your bank account with a minimum of USD 10,000 or equivalent in currency of applicants' country by Feb.28 or Aug.31.(for Spring semester : Feb. 28, for Fall semester : Aug. 31)
    2) Financial support form from your tutor professor at Korea University Graduate  School (with the tutor professor's certificate of enrollment): If you don't have the bank statement with a minimum of USD 10,000, it can be substituted with  the financial support form from your tutor professor.
    (Financial support form will be sent via email by the professor's request.)

    * However, when you apply for your visa from the Korean Consulate, Embassy or Immigration, you must submit a bank statement.
    (Financial support form will not be acceptable.)

  • Release of information form (Please fill out in English)
  • Application fee USD 100 or KRW 100,000, cash or a check payable to 'Korea University Graduate School' Please enclose the application fee with the required application documents.
  • Photocopy of your passport (front page only)
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR CHINESE APPLICANTS
  • Chinese applicants must submit both the certificate of graduation and a bachelor's degree and a master's degree for 'C' and 'D' on the list of required documents. The above documents must have been issued by a fully accredited university by the government. Applicants can be asked to provide additional documents or evidence for proof of academic achievements authorized by government. We encourage you to submit the notarized documents translated in Korean or English. These documents  may be substituted for the certificate of degree issued by China Degree & Graduation Education Development Center (http://www.cdgdc.edu.cn). In that case, copy of  degree should also be submitted.

    * For those who have not yet graduated from a university: Education Background & Academic Records issued by the China Academic Degree & Graduate Education Development Center (http://www.cdgdc.edu.cn) will be acceptable.

  • Chinese applicants who will apply for a D-2 (student visa) visa in China must submit an additional copy of the certificate of a bachelor's degree and a master's degree  issued by China Degree & Graduation Education Development Center (http://www.cdgdc.edu.cn) for the 'C' and 'D' on the list of required documents.
  • If the official transcript is written in Chinese, please hand in the notarized document translated in Korean or English.
  • If you submit a bank statement issued by a bank in China, we recommend you to freeze your bank account with a minimum of RMB 80,000 by February 28 or August 31. (for Spring semester : Feb. 28, for Fall semester : Aug. 31) (Chinese student in China) Chinese applicants who will apply for D-2(student Visa) visa in China : We recommend you to freeze the bank account with a minimum of RMB 80,000 until Dec. 31. or June 30(for Spring semester : June 30, for Fall semester : Dec. 31.)
  • Additional documents for Chinese applicants
    1) Two color photos taken within 3 months (3.5cm X 4.5cm)
    2) A photocopy of the family register (戶口簿) including both you and your parents
    3) A photocopy of the resident registration card (居民證)

    2) A certificate of family relations
    You can hand in the family register (戶口簿 for Chinese and 戶籍 for Japanese), the birth certificate, or the certificate of vital record to verify the eligibility A.

    * Chinese applicants should submit the family register (戶口簿) parents and applicant in place of certificate of nationality.
    (If your family register is bound with your parents, please submit 1 indicating set of hardcopy notarized in English or Korean. If your family register is separated from your parents', please submit yours and all of your parents' (1 set of each). Also you must submit a certificate of family relations. All documents shall be notarized in either English or Korean).

    - In case of the following, please submit the document below: One of your parents passed away (or Divorce) : Death (or Divorce) Certificate One of your parents is naturalized citizen : notarized copy of her/his family register Dika.

SCHOLARSHIP

Around 89% of all admitted international students will be awarded scholarships.

A. Requirements for Scholarship Award

  • GPA from the previous (latest) school 4.0 or above (out of 4.5), 3.83 or above (out of 4.3), 3.57 or above(out of 4.0), or 90 or above (out of 100)
  • TOEFL (PBT) 577 or above, TOEFL (CBT) 233 or above, TOEFL (iBT) 90 or above, TEPS 700 or above, IELTS 7.0 or above or TOPIK level 6 or above
  • Recommendation from the department and permission from the dean of graduate school
  • All three requirements should be satisfied to be awarded Scholarship A.

  • Both admission evaluation and scholarship award evaluation will be conducted automatically and simultaneously. You do not need to contact the department individually for recommendation form the department.

  • Scholarship will be awarded to master's students and doctoral students for four semesters and to integrated master's and doctoral students for eight semesters.
C. Conditions to maintain the Scholarship Award

  • Maintain GPA 3.8 or above
  • For the GPA range 3.0 above to GPA 3.8: Students within this range for two consecutive semesters will receive 75% scholarship ; Students whose GPA remains 3.8 or above afterward will be awarded a 100% scholarship.
  • GPA 3.0 below for two consecutive semesters: Scholarship award will be suspended. However, student maintaining GPA 3.0 or higher afterward will be granted a 75% scholarship.
  • Scholarship A will not be granted after scholarship suspension.

  • Maintain GPA 3.5 or above
  • When a student maintains a GPA of 3.5 or higher, the College of Medicine will continue to grant Foreign Student Scholarships under its own policy.
  • Some professor in the Natural Sciences or Engineering area may offer a stipend to exellent students individually from their own research fund. Please contact the head of department.
