Error compensation with a spinning mirror for holography system
Normally optical elements cannot be perfectly placed in an optical measurement system like laser holography due to various errors. An algorithm is studied to identify installation errors. A spinning mirror is used to produce many different beam paths so that many measurement data can be obtained. With the algorithm, a more precision measurement is possible even with inaccurate setup. More accurate measurement is possible if the errors are compensated
precision stage with flexible hinges
A new 3D 4DOF precision stage using flexible hinge is studied. It can be made small because the actuators are separated from the stage. The motion of the stage is analyzed by using a mathematical model and FEM analysis. Experiments are performed with the 3D precision stage with four piezo-actuators. The stage operates x-y translation, x axis tilting and y axis tilting successfully. And the motions have a micrometer precision. The proposed stage can be used as a precision 3D stage.
Composites with functional fillers for car audio chassis
In order to reduce the weight of car audio, three types of fillers (CNT, glass fiber and metal fiber) are combined with PC/ABS material to enhance and balance the mechanical and electronic properties. Five materials with variable metal fiber contents are prepared and some key properties of them are characterized to select the optimal material. In addition, considering injection molding process, the morphological characteristics of glass and metal fibers are observed.
Prediction of cutting forces in machining
For the optimization of cutting processes, it is important to know the relationships between the cutting forces and the cutting variables such as tool geometry, machining conditions and workpiece material. This is because the phenomena occurring during cutting processes - chatter, tool deformation and cutting temperature and their outcomes - surface integrity and form accuracy can be predicted and controlled from the cutting forces.
